Rebel Rebel

For pretty much the first time in all of my schooling career I got into trouble (uh ohs! spagettios!) for my behaviour! dun dun duuunnn!

What actually happened is I got back an internal assessment and wasn't happy with the grade, and when asked by the teacher "Are you happy?" I responded with "No." Obviously. Teacher wants to know why, so I enlighten to the best of my student ability, and then I'm told to wait till the next day,and happy to oblige.

However, not 2 hours later in Physics, I got called out by the english head of department to arrange a meeting to discuss my behaviour earlier in english.

I turn up to the meeting late, eating an apple. A crunchy apple. Crunchingly.
I see that a good friend of mine, a Freddie, is also present.
We are explained to that Freddie and myself made our teacher feel verbally threatened and that she was intimidated. Somewhere in her speech she mentioned "looming". Now anyone that knows the either of us would realise that if there was any looming going on, it wouldn't be me doing it. I'm just not tall enough to loom. So it must have been Freddie. Nice one.

In fact, the teacher said she had never felt so threatened in her own classroom. And that she needed time and space before we asked her stuff. Let's just forget that she did say feel free to ask her questions about our papers.

It was also said, by the head of department, that we had 'no authority to question a moderated grade." Indeed. Dark times lie ahead.

So, not only was I irritated by the situation but I also found it funny. Strange combination, huh? Well, it's the first time I'm experiencing it! No further repremands befell either Freddie or myself, but we'll know in future to be less intimidating. Even if we have to try.

In another segment of my life, I had a soccer game this morning. However we did lose (3-1) and I managed to do some minor damage to my ankle. Yay for me. Hopefully my ankle fixes right up and I can happily get on with my life!

My Tiffany

I’ve often sat and wept by my window
Wishing you’d walk past and say “hello”
Instead all I get is some weirdo
Asking me if I’ll make a por-no

Other times I pretend I’m not me
Follow you then hide behind a tree
I start doing something publicly
Maybe a frowned upon activity

In my dreams you are all mine
We eat caviar and drink wine
Your grapes are sweeter than my vine
Honey you can be my Valentine

I can promise I will never stray
Not even on your farting day
Although the smell may go away
If you use that pepper spray

But that only happens in my sleep
Neither your grapes nor pepper spray can I keep
And although my dreams are deep
All they do is make me weep

The Small Print

I've come to the conclusion that a movie simply cannot emulate the story found in its original novel form. The two mediums are meant to be different so that different experiences can be taken from each.

After watching the latest Harry Potter (Half-Blood Prince) movie (4/5), or possibly even going into the film, I accepted that whatever happened would be perfectly fine with me. I didn't, and don't mind the things that have been added or removed from the original text. There are people who will complain until several blue moons have passed, but I will not be one of them.

I reckon that these filming type people have a fair idea of what they are doing, and anything that they are changing, they will accommodate for in the final two installments.

Another book that I've read which has been adapted for the big screen is The Time Traveler's Wife, and its a good example of a book that I don't believe they can take directly and make a carbon copy in film form. It just won't work. There is far too much back and forth, and I think viewers would get bored of that. They would have to generalise that situation, I think to keep it interesting and not over-exposed.

In contrast though, another book that I'm reading, Revolutionary Road, seems to be the type that can be lifted directly on to film and it would work. I haven't seen the movie yet, though I plan on it. The book alone is good enough to warrant a movie watch. Then again, so are the lead actors (to be politically correct) : Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

In The Meantime

I've recently had an opportunity to buy stuff off a website known as fishpond. They sell books, DVD's and CD's prodominantly, but I'm not here to advertise that fact.
No. I'm here to tell you what it is I have purchased from said website.

Two DVD's and Two Books.
The two books I've now purchased (so far only one has arrived) are Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates, and Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. You smart movie type people may recognise that both of these are the titles of new Leonardo DiCaprio movies (although Shutter Island hasn't been released yet). And yes, chances are I wouldn't have bought them if not for that fact. However, having starting Revolutionary Road, its good so far. A tad biting, but good.

In accordance to the movies, I figured I may as well start filling out my collection with my favourite movies. So the most recent additions to my collection are American History X, and Fight Club. You smart movie type people may recognise that both of these are titles of Edward Norton movies. Yes. They are. Today I'm going to sit down and enjoy my copy of Fight Club and watch with slightly more interest than I have typed out this load of tobaganny nufty stuff.

I bid you Farewell, till my next post (don't hold your breath, it could be miles away!)
