The Basement Tapes

First, good news to counteract the bad news of Blue Valentine last week: not only have I ordered Nux Vomica by The Veils (online, and still waiting for arrival - move just a little bit faster, move just a little now girl!), but I also went out and purchased Troubles Of The Brain, which is The Veils' latest release, an EP. I am a happy person. Musically, that is. Very happy. (Go The Veils!)

Second, the rest of the post!

Quote of The Post: "Sometimes these feelings can be so misleading. She turns to me and says 'Are you alright?' I said 'I must be fine 'cause my heart's still beating.'"
Well, ain't that the damned truth? As long as you have a beating heart, you can get up every morning and smile if you feel fine. If not, try again next time. That's about as simple as things will get. Basically, if you're willing to actually live, instead of just being, then no matter what has happened, you are in a good place to make progress. It's a good place to start.

Movie of The Post: Burn After Reading
Heh. It's a funny movie. Watch it. Maybe not with your parents. Unless you don't mind experiencing suprises of dildo proportions with them (big, sudden, epic and ultimately entertaining. NOT speaking from my own personal experiences with said object!) Just saying. It's a very interesting and different sort of movie (from my perspective anyway) with a story that folds in on itself quite well towards a touching finale.

Song of The Post: Crucify Your Mind - Sixto Rodriguez
This song is utterly amazing! This is without a doubt one of my all time favourite songs. Between the gorgeous instrumentals, that beautiful voice and some of my favourite lyrics ("So con, convince your mirror / As you've always done before / Giving substance to shadows / Giving substance ever more") it really does hold a special place in my musical heart. It's not long, so if you don't know it, give it a chance.
